Double Sinks!!

OK....so I posted the questions from the Life Action Revival about how we are supposed to behave as wives.....
Well, you all know that I love my husband, but I also love double sinks. You know...in the bathroom...
something about the two of us in one bathroom with one sink just doesn't work together.
I am so thankful for our new house and the double sinks in the bathroom!

Personal Evaluation for Wives

When the Life Action Revival came to our church in September of 2004, they presented a series of questions to us. Some of these questions were quite simple to answer, and yet others were painfully difficult to answer. I still struggle with some of the questions....and so I thought I would just throw some out to you....to think about and answer with your own heart.

1. Do I put my husband's needs and desires ahead of my own?
2. Do I look for creative ways to please my husband?
3. Am I content to serve, even when my husband doesn't seem to notice or appreciate my efforts?
4. Am I teaching our children, by my example and words, to honor and obey their father?
5.Do I speak words of encouragement and admiration to my husband?
6. Do I treat my husband as graciously as I would a guest?
7. Do I regularly express appreciation for the sacrifices my husband makes to provide for our family?

Whew! And that is only a few of the questions on the sheet they gave us!
Definitely something for us wives/mothers to think about and pray over!

Father,
Thank you so much for the precious gift of marriage. As I sit here tonight, I pray that you would equip me to be the wife you would want me to be. Lord, you know that I love my husband, but I want more than that. I want to put his needs before my own. I want to serve him and honor him with my actions and words. I want our children to know that I respect and love their father. I want our marriage to be an example of your grace and your love.
In Jesus' Name....
Amen!

Good Friday!

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus....Romans 3:23

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life...John 3:16

I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death....Phillipians 3:10

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding....Ephesians 1:7

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?
And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

The Word of God!

I have shared this story with several people but I think it is priceless and so much like Grace.....

Last Sunday I got a call from the police in another county in GA saying that they had a trailer tag that belonged to my dad. When my parents got home from church, I mentioned the phone call to my dad. He went out to his trailer to check the tag...and then realized that his trailer had been stolen. We are still not sure when it happened and the funny thing is...there are always lots of cars and trucks here. It really looks like a used car lot most days. But despite the activity around here, some one was brave enough to steal the trailer from us.
So the next morning we were telling Graham and Grace about the incident. And Grace responds so surely....."Well, I guess those burglars haven't read the word of God!!"....oh my, do we have a Beth Moore on our hands??

Some Fun, Some Storms, and Some More Fun.....

What a crazy weekend we just had! I told ya'll that we were being honored by our SS class with a "prayer party". Well, we were ssssooooo blessed by all of the people that came and prayed over us. Many people said some really awesome things about us and our journey to where we are today. Many thanked us for being so transparent and sharing our testimony and lives with them. As we get ready to move over 700 miles away from our family and friends, we are very sad....but we also know that they send us with all of the love and support we will need!

While we were finishing up at the party, my mom called to tell me that there were tornadoes all over Atlanta and one even hit downtown Atl. where they were hosting the SEC basketball tournaments. Mom also wanted me to know that she had the kids safely down in the basement because the tornado was heading towards their house. Thank Goodness everything was ok here, but it was mighty scary for a while. We also had more storms and tornadoes Saturday afternoon...and we were all back in the basement for a second time. Of course, the kids loved it and thought it was so exciting. For me, I think it was just a reminder that we serve the God of the Universe and a tornado that does incredible amounts of damage to huge buildings in a major city is really a simple task for our God.

So...on to more fun....We spent last night with our very dear friends worshipping the Lord with Steven Curtis Chapman! Yes!! One of my favorites! We just love the Chapman family and are so grateful for their passion and love for orphan children all over the world. They have three adopted girls from China and he (Steven) cannot stop talking about how these girls have changed their lives. It is so true and we completely understand. Now I could go on and on about adoption, but I just want you to know that I am extremely grateful for the child God handed to us in China. I really cannot imagine our lives without her smile and cuteness and love and generosity and gratitude. She is amazing!! And for all of the families out there that God has placed a desire on your hearts for adoption.....please know that I am praying for you....and yes, especially my dear friend, R. I love you and I know God is taking care of your baby until you get to wrap your arms around her. I just can't wait to see it all unfold in His timing!!

How Great is our God!

Oh Boy! I am really exhausted tonight and this has only just begun. We spent today (which was absolutely gorgeous!!) cleaning out Mom and Dad's garage and packing some of our stuff on my father-in-laws' moving truck. We have the majority of our "stuff" stored at the Harris' house and Mike wants to get all of it in one location so that we can get some quotes on a moving truck. Basically we will keep a few clothes, Sarah Joy's crib, and our homeschool stuff at my parents until the "big day".

It is so hard to believe that this is really happening for us. I honestly questioned God if we would ever be at a point where we could pack everything we own and toss our kids in the car and move our family to Michiana. He is so faithful...and yet why do I have such a hard time remembering that??

We are really looking forward to tomorrow evening. Our Sunday School class has planned a "prayer party" to cover us in prayer before we leave town to serve Him. I know it will be an overwhelming and emotional night for me, but I am so grateful to our precious friends who care so much about us and want to pray over us. Isn't that awesome!!

How Great is our God...sing with me...How Great is our God.....and all will sing, How Great, How Great is our God!

Making Memories...

You know, if we are not careful we can easily forget the little things our children do. For example, today Grace and I read "The Cat in the Hat" and she made this cute hat like Dr. Suess. Then, of course, Sarah Joy had to put it on. And Graham spent some of the day learning about Thomas Edison and then making a power point. Later, I went upstairs to find Grace "putting Sarah Joy down for a nap" on the landing...not in her crib. And before I put Sarah Joy down for her real nap, she wanted to "rock-rock"....so we did. Now these are just the "little things" in life that really do matter and that I really don't want to forget....
Obviously there were some things that I would rather forget about today....laundry, what's for dinner?, getting packed, my thighs....do I need to go on??

Our New Home

Thank you, Graham, for helping me make this collage! Well, here it is! Our new home!

No Longer Homeless!!

Praise the Lord!! We made an offer on the house in Knollwood and they accepted our offer! YEAH!! The really cool thing for me is that they (the sellers) said that they "just had a good feeling about the people coming to see their house". They also seemed to be thrilled that we have children and will raise our children in that house. God is so good and we are so blessed! We were talking to someone the other day about the house and we mentioned that we really didn't know what to do or how to feel. His response was "I think you should fall down on your knees and thank God for his gift!"....and you know what....He is right!
So, we are scheduled to close April 15th! This is it! The beginning of our journey....
Thank you, Jesus!

I'll try to post some pictures of the house....

WE'RE BACK!

Of course, most of you probably didn't even know we were gone. Mike and I left after church on Sunday and drove 11+ hours to Michiana (short for Michigan/Indiana state line). We made the trip without any trouble and really didn't know what to do with ourselves. We had bought a couple of books to listen to and we did manage to listen to one of Beth Moore's...but other than that, we just listened to music and drove. What do you do with yourself for 11+ hours and no children in the back arguing and fussing and having to go to the bathroom....just enjoy the peace and quiet!
We spent the day Monday with Tricia (our realtor) looking at 7 houses. I am telling you the truth....I am OVER house-hunting. I am so ready for God to reveal His plan to us and for us. He has made it so clear that we are to move to that area to serve Him, but He has not shown us THE house. We went back to see a couple of houses that we had seen in January....and we particularly loved one of them. All that night, we both could not stop thinking about that house, but we were very anxious to see 3 more the next day. Would one of those be THE house for us??
The next morning we went to Mike's new office and were so blessed to spend time with them studying God's word. We also had a short meeting with some guys from the Staff Services department. The really great news is that we have raised enough support and they are ready for us to officially begin working there! Praise the Lord! I am telling you that I had wondered (some days) if that day would ever come. We have been raising support for 15 months now and I have doubted God many times through this process. However, He is faithful and has brought this step to completion for us. So now....we just need to find a house.
Later that day, we met Tricia again to look at the final three prospects. The first one was really intriguing to us and we could not wait to see it. It was built in 1865 (the year the Civil War was over....information that I just learned through homeschooling a 4th grader!) and has tons of character. We really, really liked the house. BUT.....because it is so old, we are somewhat afraid of it. The guy that is fixing it up may or may not be doing it right. What is behind the new sheetrock? What is under that carpet? Will this be a good investment as far as resale goes? After all...we have no idea how long God will allow us to serve Him in Michiana. And the other two houses...well...they still weren't what we were looking for.
So....after much prayer, discussion, going back and forth with pros and cons...we made an offer this morning on the house in Knollwood. We feel like if God wants us to have this house, He will make it clear to us through the accepting of the offer. We are excited to see how all of this turns out. And by the way, the sellers have until 6pm Friday to decide whether or not to accept our offer. Until then, we wait and pray!
