Psalm 103

Last August when we began our first year of homeschooling, Graham's first Bible memorization was Psalm 103. It has been stuck in my head and in my heart ever since. Today, let's reflect on the goodness of God and thank Him for his mercy in our lives. Praise the Lord, O my soul!

Psalm 103 (New International Version)
Of David.

1 Praise the LORD, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the LORD, O my soul,

and forget not all his benefits-
3 who forgives all your sins

and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit

and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things

so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 The LORD works righteousness

and justice for all the oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses,

his deeds to the people of Israel:
8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious,

slow to anger, abounding in love.
9 He will not always accuse,

nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve

or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,

so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,

so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
13 As a father has compassion on his children,

so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed,

he remembers that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are like grass,

he flourishes like a flower of the field;
16 the wind blows over it and it is gone,

and its place remembers it no more.
17 But from everlasting to everlasting

the LORD's love is with those who fear him,
and his righteousness with their children's children-
18 with those who keep his covenant

and remember to obey his precepts.
19 The LORD has established his throne in heaven,

and his kingdom rules over all.
20 Praise the LORD, you his angels,

you mighty ones who do his bidding,
who obey his word.
21 Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts,

you his servants who do his will.
22 Praise the LORD, all his works

everywhere in his dominion.
Praise the LORD, O my soul.

CAUTION: WORK ZONE

Just like me....our house is a work-in-progress! We are so grateful to mom and dad for their help! We have pulled out the carpet from the dining room to put down pre-finished hardwood floors. We also pulled the carpet off the stairs and have re-finished the hardwoods on the stairs. We can't wait for guests to come see us!! HINT...HINT!!

The Vine and The Branches

John 15 (The Message)

The Vine and the Branches
1-3 "I am the Real Vine and my Father is the Farmer. He cuts off every branch of me that doesn't bear grapes. And every branch that is grape-bearing he prunes back so it will bear even more. You are already pruned back by the message I have spoken.

4"Live in me. Make your home in me just as I do in you. In the same way that a branch can't bear grapes by itself but only by being joined to the vine, you can't bear fruit unless you are joined with me.

5-8"I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you're joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can't produce a thing. Anyone who separates from me is deadwood, gathered up and thrown on the bonfire. But if you make yourselves at home with me and my words are at home in you, you can be sure that whatever you ask will be listened to and acted upon. This is how my Father shows who he is—when you produce grapes, when you mature as my disciples.

9-10"I've loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home in my love. If you keep my commands, you'll remain intimately at home in my love. That's what I've done—kept my Father's commands and made myself at home in his love.

11-15"I've told you these things for a purpose: that my joy might be your joy, and your joy wholly mature. This is my command: Love one another the way I loved you. This is the very best way to love. Put your life on the line for your friends. You are my friends when you do the things I command you. I'm no longer calling you servants because servants don't understand what their master is thinking and planning. No, I've named you friends because I've let you in on everything I've heard from the Father.

16"You didn't choose me, remember; I chose you, and put you in the world to bear fruit, fruit that won't spoil. As fruit bearers, whatever you ask the Father in relation to me, he gives you.

17"But remember the root command: Love one another.

Another Tooth!!

My big girl lost another tooth today. This time it just fell out while she was eating a McD's cheeseburger. Grace thinks that is so cool because her daddy also lost a tooth while he was eating a McD's cheeseburger. Unfortunately, her daddy swallowed his and had to write a letter to the tooth fairy explaining what happened. Guess we will be anticipating a visit from that fairy tonight too!
